Hosting 101

I have the pleasure of talking to a lot of entrepreneurs who are just starting websites, and one of the most prominent questions is about hosting.

A website host stores your website and files online for you, so people can access your site at anytime, and you can access your site and files from any device.

There are numerous setups and packages you can have with hosts, but I’m going to break this down into three really simple setups for you.

1. The Smart Beginner
While there are a lot of cheap hosting services out there, we do recommend you consider how good that hosting is. While our basic recommendation is a little pricer than some other hosts out there, we believe in being smart about how you invest your money and starting with Flywheel and their Tiny package.

2. The Serious Business Owner
If you are serious about your website, you need a really solid host that you can totally rely upon. For that, I recommend WPEngine.com. Going with either of these services is an investment, but one worth making if your website is important to you or if it receives a lot of traffic.

For clients who work with me, I always review their business and take a look at their specific needs. If you feel like you’re outgrowing your host, or you just need to get started setting one up, head over to our contact page and let us know how I and my team can help!

P.S. This post does contain affiliate links. Why? We figured if these companies are giving away money, why not donate it?
We do work with affiliate programs, but each year donate what we receive to a charity decided upon by the Alchemy+Aim team.
We recommend these services because we believe in them, not because we’re receiving this money from recommending them.
