Starting in 2022, Alchemy + Aim (A+A) worked with the non-profit Climb Wyoming to refresh and unite its digital presence. Together with the Climb Wyoming team and Braid Creative, we created a comprehensive and engaging website for its audiences—the single moms seeking job skills and financial security and the partners supporting its mission of poverty alleviation. Climb Wyoming’s non-profit website design required an approach that unified diverse user audiences around a common goal and met technical requirements from grantors.

Case Studies

Life-changing skills for single moms

Climb Wyoming supports low-income single mothers in Wyoming with career training, job placement, and a foundation of self-sufficiency. As a national leader in poverty alleviation since 1986, Climb Wyoming’s comprehensive program isn’t just about getting a job—it’s about financial independence for struggling mothers and changing the generational cycle of poverty one family at a time.

Climb Wyoming needed a website that was easy to navigate and accessible for single moms, as well as informative and purpose-driven for partners, including educators, community organizations, and investors. 91% of Climb graduates are employed full-time post-program. Their model is proven, but they needed a clear and inspiring non-profit website to expand their reach and impact.

I have been inundated with messages and notes of support celebrating the success that Alchemy + Aim has so beautifully helped us share.

The response from the recent launch of our website and progress report has been overwhelming–it’s our best yet! Through this process, your vision, creativity, focus, direction, and guidance have proven invaluable. I wanted to personally thank you for all you have done and continue to do to help Climb Wyoming share the life-changing stories of the women we serve and invite support from all facets of our community.

Timeline

A+A collaborated with ClimbWyoming, in-house professionals, and consultant teams to create an inspiring, clear, and informative website. We thought through various user flows and built an optimized non-profit website with their growth and easy in-house management in mind. Here’s a snapshot of how we worked together:

2022 | October

Climb Wyoming hires A+A for website development of Climb Wyoming’s new website. Our collective goal is to merge two websites created for different user audiences and create an inviting visual experience with careful consideration of accessibility.

2022-2023 | November to July

A+A commences with the wireframe process, site mapping strategy, and design while managing the SEO copy editing process and client communication. Website development begins in batches.

2023 | July to September

A+A continues website development in batches followed by a staging setting with the support of multiple developers while communicating with various teams and the client to close gaps.

2023 | September to October

A+A leads internal review and quality control, followed by marketing team and client reviews. A+A and teams address feedback, and then A+A begins launch prep. Launch prep includes pre-launch content changes, transferring the staging site to the client’s hosting account, implementing redirects from our URL audit sheet, and beyond

2023 | November

A+A launches the new Climb Wyoming website in coordination with the mail delivery of the printed 2023 progress reports.

2023-2024 | November to January

A+A provided three-month post-launch SEO work to track the anticipated growth of their website traffic and user retention. From November 2023 to January 2024, total traffic increased by over 10x, organic traffic increased by over 3x, and new organic users increased by almost 4x.

2024-Present

After six months of post-launch support, A+A transitioned Climb Wyoming into their key accounts for continued long-term support.

Additional collaborative projects have been worked on together.

A Non-Profit Website Needs Strategy To Grow Reach

A non-profit website needs to address the needs of various audiences—from meeting the objective and technical requirements of its mission to educating future investors and partners. It is a tall order. The website needs easy management and flexibility so the internal teams can stay focused on their mission—we don’t want a messy CMS to get in the way of poverty alleviation!

A web team must have business acumen, program management and evaluation perspective, creativity, strategy, and technical solutions. A+A listened to the needs of Climb Wyoming to understand their pain points (e.g., multi-site management) and vision for growth to create a thoughtful, focused, and inviting non-profit website.
